Attack with sword on TV channel, MD survived

Desk report: A man has attacked the head office of Sathiam Television Channel in Chennai, India with a sword.He vandalized the TV office with a sword on Wednesday (August 4th) local time. The man came carrying a sword in his guitar bag.Isaac Livingstone, the channel’s managing director, said he was the target of the attack. He was hiding in a room at the time of the attack.Police have arrested the attacker. It was not immediately clear what prompted the attack.Satyam TV is well known because of the missionary Mohan C. Lazarus. The Chennai Press Club condemned the attack.Bharathi, the joint secretary of the press club, has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to enact laws to ensure the safety of journalists and their offices.The assailant damaged the channel’s various equipment and assets. CCTV footage showed the man entering with a shield and sword and destroying everything.Isaac Livingstone, the channel’s managing director, said the man entered the office through a parking lot. He carries a sword in his guitar bag. Police later arrested the attacker.No senior Chennai police official was available for comment. However, a member of the Rayapuran police station confirmed that the name of the accused attacker was Rajesh Kumar. He also said that the incident is being investigated.
