Desk report:  MMTH or Malaysia My Second Home Visa activities are starting again by changing some rules. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting, according to the country’s interior ministry. Home Secretary Datuk Wan Ahmed Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the decision was taken by the cabinet recently to revive the country’s economy. He said second home visas have been temporarily suspended since last year. However, considering the overall aspect, it has been decided to re-launch it. He also said that new applications for second home visas would be accepted from October after a review by the immigration department. At present, the country has 56,046 second home visa holders and their dependents from different countries including Bangladesh. To increase this number, the government has added nine new rules, one of which is that second-hand holders must stay in Malaysia for at least 90 consecutive days a year. Visa holders must have a monthly income of at least 40,000 ringgit, up from 10,000 ringgit, and a fixed deposit of at least 1 million ringgit, of which 50 per cent will be spent on buying a property, spending on health or children’s education. Currently, you can apply for this visa in two categories. One for 35 to 49 year olds and the other for 50 or older. The Home Secretary said the opportunity has been extended to those aged 35 to 49 who are financially well-off and have permanent employment. Note that the government has introduced Malaysia My Second Home Visa to cover the ongoing lockdown in the Corona epidemic. New announcements will come soon in the case of tourists coming and going to revive the economy.
