The Turkish president has met with world leaders on this issue. The list also includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other EU officials. Ankara has said it will not bear the burden of immigration as decided by any other country. The Turkish government has taken a pragmatic approach to the recent events in Afghanistan. Noting that a new reality has emerged in Afghanistan, Ankara says it will maintain contact with all parties and make decisions accordingly. Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed the moderate statements of Taliban officials. He said that Turkey is ready to cooperate with all parties to ensure peace and stability. Erdogan said Turkey’s military presence in Afghanistan would strengthen the hand of the new Afghan administration in the international arena. The Turkish president added that Turkish troops would provide security at Kabul airport and ensure the rescue operation continued in a safe and peaceful manner. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl  also said that Turkey would work in coordination with the international community on the recognition of a new government in Afghanistan.
