A bomb blast targeting a police van in Pakistan has killed at least two people

Desk report:  A bomb blast near the Pakistani city of Quetta has killed at least two Pakistani police officers.The Pakistani media Dawn reported that 12 people, including six policemen, were injured in the blast near the Serena Hotel in Quetta on Sunday (August 8th) evening. Two policemen were killed and 12 others were injured in an explosion near the Serena Hotel. Liaquat Shahwani, a spokesman for the Balochistan provincial government, said in a statement that a motorcycle bomb had exploded targeting a vehicle carrying 15 policemen at the Serena Hotel. The injured were rushed to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities said that the condition of some of the injured was critical. A state of emergency has been declared in the surrounding area.
Condemning the attack, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Jamal Khan said, “Terrorists want to disrupt peace in Balochistan.” No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. At least five people were killed in a powerful explosion in the parking lot of the Serena Hotel in Quetta last April. The Pakistani militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Pakistani media.
