Afghanistan should be helped, not pressured: China’s call to the world

Desk report:  China has called on the international community to provide the necessary assistance to Afghanistan without putting pressure on it. Beijing has also called for not using Afghanistan as a geopolitical battleground. The call came during a resurgence of the Taliban following the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. The news agency Reuters reported.Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks in a telephone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Thursday.The Chinese foreign minister said the international community should encourage Afghanistan to move in a positive direction without creating pressure. The Chinese Foreign Minister noted that such an attitude would help establish stability in Afghanistan.Since taking control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, the Taliban have pledged to bring full peace and stability to the country.In a telephone conversation with the British Foreign Secretary, the Chinese Foreign Minister added that countries around the world should refrain from using Afghanistan as a “geopolitical battlefield”. Instead, the country’s independence and the will of the people need to be respected.
