Bangladesh Army Chief Meets Two Ministers of Turkey

Desk report: Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has met Turkish Defense Industry Minister Ismail Demir and Deputy Defense Minister Muhsin Dere. Visiting Turkish Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed met with two of the country’s ministers on Thursday, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate. In a meeting with the two ministers, the Chief of Army Staff said, “There are long-standing strategic friendships and cultural ties between the armies of Turkey and Bangladesh, as well as the two countries.” General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed expressed hope that his official visit to Turkey on the occasion of his visit to the International Defense Fair-2021 would open a new door of cooperation between the military forces of the two countries, especially the armies of the two countries. Turkey’s Deputy Minister of National Defense Muhsin Dere pledged his country’s cooperation and assistance to Bangladesh in the areas of military equipment as well as training of military personnel, technology exchange, etc. Ismail Demir, head of Turkish Defense Industries, called for making defense cooperation between the two countries more friendly and beneficial in the future. On the second day of the International Defense Fair, the Chief of Army Staff toured various stalls. He also held discussions and exchanged views with defense experts. At the end of the fair, the Chief of Army Staff will meet with the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of General Staff of Turkey.
