Special flight to return Indians from Mazar-i-Sharif

A special message was issued by the Indian embassy on Tuesday. It said Indians in and around the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif should board special flights for the Indian Air Force. That special flight will return to India on Tuesday night. The situation in the country has worsened since the decision by US and NATO forces to leave Afghanistan was implemented. One city after another is reported to have fallen to the Taliban. The Taliban are fighting government forces across the country. As a precautionary measure, just over a month ago, on July 10, the Kandahar consulate was closed and about 50 Indians were repatriated. This time it is the turn of Mazar-i-Sharif. The Indian foreign ministry could not say how many Indians would be repatriated on Tuesday. Of the four embassies in Afghanistan, Mazar-i-Sharif has been in operation for so long, with the exception of Kabul. A special flight of the Indian Air Force will leave for New Delhi at night, a tweet from the consulate said on Tuesday. Diplomats, embassy staff and other Indians working in Mazar-e-Sharif should return to the country on that plane.
